 In addition to performing with the NCO, John Chiego is Professor of Double Bass and Associate Director for Undergraduate Studies at Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis. John was the Principal Bass of the Memphis Symphony and Opera Memphis Orchestras from 1979 until 1996. He is also the founder and Music Director of Panache, a nine-member string chamber ensemble based in Memphis. John is an active recitalist and clinician giving concerts and teaching throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. His first solo CD, It's A Bass Thing! - John Chiego Plays The TK Bass was released In 1997. John has three boys, Chris, Andrew, and Peter, and is married to Sara who is the Assistant Principal Bassist of the Memphis Symphony. When he's not trying to keep up with the boys John likes to work in his garden and get in a round of golf whenever possible.
